Two crows on a telephone pole
crow about their neighbors, but I
have learned to live alone, I know
none of my neighbors, I stay by
my computer, or by my phone.
I step outside to say hello.
They drop their gazes and start home.
I can only guess what they know.
On my phone I watch a video
that says crows know how to make tools.
And they’re getting better at it.
Not too well, I hope, that one day
they stop crowing with each other.
But maybe then they’ll learn about me.

Nice work, Robert!
It reminded me how some of my neighbours have spent years avoiding eye-contact.
(That’s city life, these days, I find.)

Thank you Ken. It does seem to be part of city life. We’re closer, and yet more distant.
